Hotel Bremon is located in a 19th century building in one of the pedestrian streets of the old town of Cardona. Before its restoration as a hotel, it was the former school run by Carmelite nuns. The original mosaic-tiled floor remains as a feature of the reception. With amply-dimensioned rooms and generous windows, there is a ambience of light and freshness that is set off by the subtle colour-schemes. At the top of the building, a big lounge with a fireplace and terrace looks out on views of the castle.
There are nineteen bedrooms in all, including two Superior Doubles and a Suite. Each one is tastefully decorated and equipped with comforts such as dressing gowns and slippers and a choice of pillows, as well as the usual facilities like telephone, television and internet connection. One complete floor is designated as non-smoking.
Although Cardona is visited mostly for its history, an excellent base for touring the Romanesque sites and ruins all around, the enduring appeal of the Spanish climate is not ignored at Hotel Bremon. Especially in summer, the pleasing sundeck is an ideal spot to relax for a couple of hours, or maybe to take an aperitif before dinner.
Cardona and its surroundings have a rich cultural and natural legacy, mostly founded on the long history of salt-mining. The wealth that salt has brought to the area over the centuries results in many fine historic buildings such as the castle and the church of San Vicente. The salt also offers other natural and industrial sites of tourist interest: the salt mountain, the old mines and the salt museum.
Meals
Les Monges restaurant serves breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The menus aim to show off the best of Catalan cuisine, combining traditional recipes and local produce with touches of modern international flair. The room is decorated with photographs showing the hotel's previous life as a school.
