Hotel Calle Mayor is an architectural masterstroke that brings together the past and the present in beautiful harmony. This small urban hotel occupies a former 16th century palace in the centre of Logroño, the capital of the La Rioja region.
The Past is represented by the Roman arch that serves as the main doorway, the 16th century stone facade and a plethora of stone, wood and iron including a glorious old staircase supported by a stone pillar of unfathomable antiquity. All this contrasts and coordinates with the Present, in the form of a minimalist interior of top quality materials and soft, muted colours creating a warm and tranquil atmosphere.
There is a lounge and reading area, as well as a corner for internet use.
All the guest rooms continue the theme of elegant tranquillity and comfort with fully coordinated furnishings. Each room has wi-fi internet, an interactive flat-screen television, minibar, air-conditioning and a stylish bathroom decorated with Murano glass mosaic tiles. For extra space, choose the the Mayor Special, or for even more space and luxury including your own pillow menu, opt for the Mayor Deluxe.
Logroño is a fine centre for exploring La Rioja. Not just for the vineyards and bodegas (though I would never wish to downplay the pleasure to be found in a glass of Rioja) but also for the museums, the culture and the luscious countryside that abounds all around the town.
