La Casa Menorca.
Carretera Cala Galdana, Ferreries, Menorca.
Nestled amongst pine trees, on a large estate, La Casa Menorca is close to the sweeping sandy bay at Cala Santa Galdana and not far from the unspoilt little beaches of the south-west corner of the island. The substantial stone farmhouse provides six guest rooms for adults only. The surrounding garden has a swimming pool, terrace, sun-deck and lots of sunny or shady corners where guests can relax in privacy.
Breakfast is served every day with buffet, continental and cooked options. Tapas, snacks and drinks are available throughout the day and a barbecue dinner can be ordered in advance. Other dining options are available at restaurants in Ferreries and Santa Saldana.
The grounds of La Casa Menorca extend to 35,000m2 (about 8 acres). Beyond the garden, there are pinewoods and a former stone quarry that has provided the stone for the decorative exposed stone walls in the bedrooms. Central to the outside space is of course the swimming pool, which is surrounded by a terrace and a large sun-deck.
The bedrooms are beautifully appointed with feature walls of Marèse stone quarried on the estate. Each room has a double bed, air-conditioning, private terrace and an en-suite bathroom with either a bath tub, shower, or both. One room offers the alternative option of twin beds or a king-size double.
Nowhere is very far on Menorca, so while the beaches of the south coast are closest to the hotel, the north coast is a short drive away, as is the capital Mahon in one direction and the old capital of Ciutadella (you’ll find it with various spellings). So while a holiday on Menorca will almost certainly centre on sun, sea and sand, there is also architecture, culture and history on show. With so many megalithic monuments around the island, that history goes back a long way too.
