Edelweiss
, C/ Roselló D’Amunt, 9, La Garriga.
The modernist architectural movement reached it's zenith in early 20th century Cataluna, and Hotel Edelweiss is a prime example of this beautiful style. Starting as a summer villa for a wealthy family, it is now a small hotel offering an unforgettable experience for just four couples.
The hotel is surrounded by a lush, mature garden with lawns and terraces perfect for relaxing in the sunshine. Indoors, the quality of the decor is just superb, a tribute to both the original architect and the recent restoration. Everything is so perfectly, ......well, perfect.
The four guestrooms are all spacious with exquisite woodwork. Some have their own sitting area and/or a terrace, and some are suitable for wheelchair users. While all the rooms are a pleasure to stay in, the Girasol Suite is truly special with lacquer marquetry in the bedroom and bathroom and a Gaudi-esque mosaic screen for the bath.
For guests who can tear themselves away from Torre Edelweiss, the area has much to see and do. The hotel is a good out-of-town base for visiting Barcelona. And La Garriga itself historic sites ranging from a Roman villa, via museums and mediaeval castles and churches, right through to Spanish civil war memorials. And for country-lovers, the area offers walking routes and beautiful nature in abundance.
Generally the hotel does not accept children under 14, nor pets. However they may be able to make an exception in some circumstances, depending on availability and other rooms already booked.
Meals
The dining room at Hotel Edelweiss is another modernist masterpiece, from the furniture to the cutlery. It offers natural healthy cooking in a unique and exclusive setting.
The menu offers three choices for each course, all based on seasonal ingredients to discover compositions full of colour, taste and textures which make it a real pleasure to all senses. It includes water, house wine, bread, three courses and coffee.
Out and About
La Garriga is a town with a rich heritage, so it offers a lot of interesting sights to visit such as the Roman villa of Can Terrers or several places which date back to the late Spanish civil war, the wartime airfield and the war shelter among others.
However, La Garriga is particularly well-known for its art nouveau houses as well as for other architectural elements which may be less popular but not less relevant, medieval castles, churches and hermitages, which offer the visitor an interesting stay.
For those who love hiking and nature its strategic location at the foot of Montseny mountain offers a wide range of short and longer routes both on foot or by bike.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed, and every thing possible done to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The grounds, bedrooms, communal rooms and facilities were beautiful and immaculately kept. The food was excellent and the chef even cooked us a special seafood meal on the last night of our stay. Although there is no pool, the hotel has an arrangement with a local spa and can offer a massage therapist at the hotel, which was a wonderful and luxurious experience. The local train service to Barcelona was very convenient, with regular clean trains and inexpensive tickets. We can thoroughly recommend staying at Edelweiss for its tranquility and a taste of luxury, and wonderful owners and staff within a short distance travelling to Barcelona. 5 star experience. |
Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:
Every corner, every detail of the house evokes Moderism, a style we really love. The garden, the walls and windows, the table settings, right down to the door handles... everything is just right. |
I doubt there is anything in existence that can match this. We will return. |
