Fonda Llabrés was one of the first hotels in Alcudia, opened in 1957. After a recent refurbishment it is now a stunning boutique hotel with super-cool decor in the rooms and a magnificent rooftop terrace with sea views. Located in the heart of the old town, it's just a short hop to the sea on either side of the Alcudia peninsula.

The Llabrés family are charming, friendly hosts and this has rubbed off on their staff too. The rooftop terrace is spacious a elegantly styled with loungers out in the sun, lots of chairs under parasols and  shade-sails if you prefer, and a bar.

The restaurant has a typical pavement cafe in the pedestrianised plaza, where it serves breakfasts, snacks, lunches and dinners. The comprehensive breakfast menu includes everything from a simple croissant and coffee to a Mallorcan take on a full English breakfast. Throughout the day there is another ample menu serving slow food with a quick service and a smile. The most local and freshest ingredients are used to deliver everything from tapas to a 3 course dinner in Mallorcan, Spanish or international styles.

Brightness and elegance define each of the guest rooms. Designers Jaume Poma and Silvia Piris have sought a style of simple shapes, neutral colours with bright accents, parquet flooring and natural and lacquered woods. All rooms have air conditioning and heating, a smart TV, free WiFi, complimentary mineral water with daily replenishment, minibar, desk, safe and an en-suite shower room. Some also have a bathtub or whirlpool bath.

The most spacious rooms are the Junior Suites with a kingsize bed, balcony onto the main square and a view of the Sierra Tramuntana. The Deluxe Double Rooms all offer a view, onto the main square, towards to mountains or a sea view of the Bay of Pollensa, as well as a kingsize bed or twins. Two of the Deluxe room also have a private terrace. The standard Double Rooms are practical and comfortable with no compromise on design. One has been adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Alcudia is conveniently placed with two bays and lots of beaches within easy reach, secluded or filled with facilities. A trip out along the peninsula leads to the rugged promontories of Punta Negra and Cap del Pinar. Around the area there are golf courses, water parks, historic towns dating back to Roman times, beach sports and all the fun of Mallorca.
