The spectacular coastline of the Bay of Biscay is the backdrop for the Hotel Gametxo, where there are views right along the coast and up the Mundaka estuary. This is a hotel for country-lovers, but also a handy base for visiting Bilbao (Guggenheim Museum, and more) and San Sebastian.

The hotel is housed in two buildings of modern construction reflecting the traditional architecture of the area. There is a breakfast room, and a lounge which divides into one area for board games, television and use of a computer, and a quiet area for reading or simply gazing out of the window at the view.

Another important part of Hotel Gametxo is the Spa and Relaxation Centre. This uniquely designed space includes a sauna, jacuzzi, Turkish bath experience showers and a variety of massages.

There are standard guest rooms, larger Superior rooms (some with a hydromassage bath) and Apartments. They all have a simple modern decor in keeping with the location.

Outside, the views are spectacular, especially looking down over the Mundaka estuary to the village of Mundaka. The garden gives ample opportunity for sitting out and enjoying the view. This is a good place for visiting the lovely sandy beaches of the Basque coast, exploring the wetlands of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve or walking in the Oma Forest.

We Say

Look out on the spectacular coastline from the hotel window or terrace. But it gets even better when you venture out to visit the villages, beaches, cliffs, woods and mountains.
