La Fuente De La Higuera lies deep in the countryside just outside Ronda, a luxurious country hotel where you can relax in beautiful surroundings. This is a hotel with everything: solitude, lovely gardens, an elegant pool, stylish interiors, proximity to the fascinating town of Ronda, and magnificent mountains all around. The garden is ideal for lounging around all day, sunbathing on the lawn, taking a little shade under an acacia tree perhaps, and maybe cooling yourself occasionally in the swimming pool. On summer evenings, there is the opportunity to dine al fresco on the terrace, right above the pool.
The individually designed interiors contain an eclectic mix of elements ranging from the traditional Spanish rural architecture that shows the building’s past as an olive mill, right through to post-modernist items. The art collection that extends throughout the hotel runs from 19th century Dutch representational up to contemporary abstract. For the cooler weather of winter, La Fuente De La Higuera can still tend to your needs with log fires, a cosy library and lots of south-facing windows to gather the winter sun.
All the guest rooms have their own private terrace or garden, and most are suites with sitting areas or sitting rooms and open fireplaces. One of the suites has two bedrooms, ideal for four adults, with one of the bedrooms reached via a spiral staircase in the tower. The Superior Double Room has its own private entrance, for those who want extra privacy.
The location is ideal for visiting Ronda, or exploring the mountains of the Serranía de Ronda. Sometimes though, it’s just hard to tear yourself away.

The restaurant offers a 3 course menu of Mediterranean cuisine, changed daily. Choose between eating in, or sitting out on the terrace to enjoy the balmy summer evenings.

Places to visit:
Ronda (An amazing and fascinating town. The setting of its breathtaking ravine, dividing the old Moorish quarter from the new "Mercadillo" quarter, turns it into a unique place. The two parts of town are connected by an 18th century bridge where you can look straight down to the river 100 metres below. Once captured by the Romans, later transformed into a Moorish stronghold and finally conquered by the Christians, the city is full of remains of this rich and turbulent history.)

Serranía de Ronda (mountains)
Sierra de las Nieves (more and bigger mountains)

Reviews
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We arrived at the Hotel 2 1/2 hours late due to delayed flight but we were soon made welcome and we were delighted with our accommodation,
it made such a difference having the sitting room. The Owners Pom and Christina could not have been more helpful. We had some lovely trips out and the weather was perfect as was the whole holiday. We hated having to leave. |
Have recently returned from a 6 night stay at Fuente de la Higuera. A very restful & peaceful few days with a nice large room and spacious balcony. They have created a very relaxed and laid back feel about the place and the staff are very helpful and attentive to your needs at all times whether it be for a drink or ideas for a walk or excursion.
The food at dinner was excellent and varied, so much so that we never
bothered to go anywhere else in the evenings as it felt so comfortable at Fuente.
As mentioned before all the staff were really nice but special thanks must go to Christina, Frank and the other gentleman (Tom perhaps! who made us feel so welcome on our late arrival 12.15 on a very stormy & wet night).
Would definitely pay a return visit. |
This was a really fantastic hotel. Staff were great, food very good. Peaceful and chic! |

We Say
Frank is rather fond of the Zen phrase "wu-wei", which he tells me can be translated as "busy doing nothing". That seems like a pretty reasonable philosophy to follow when you visit La Fuente De La Higuera.
