Hotel Iturregi combines the charm of a rural hotel with the comfort and sophistication of a luxury hotel. Surrounded by vineyards and with breathtaking views of the Getaria lighthouse and the Basque coast, Iturregi offers guests a space full of peace and tranquility in the middle of the nature.
The hotel is situated 2 kilometres from Getaria, a small fishing village on the Bay of Biscay, 20 kilometres from San Sebastian and 60 kilometres from Bilbao.
The hotel offers 6 double rooms and 2 suites, decorated by designer Daniel Rotaeche. Each room has been decorated with different styles, fabrics and furniture, creating a warm and sophisticated environment that is both modern and traditional at the same time. The state-of-the-art bathrooms are similar masterpieces of style, that blend so well with their bedrooms. Each room is named after a nearby village or mountain: Orio, Azkizu, Zarautz, Getaria…
One really unique feature that Iturregi offers is the stunning swimming pool, built within the ruins of the original farmhouse. The pool is open from June to September, but the garden and pool area make a nice place to rest and relax at almost any time of year.
Iturregi is a lovely hotel in a lovely location, very peaceful.
Meals
Iturregi offers a healthy breakfast with homemade and local products; fresh fruit, local cheese, fresh egg omelettes, homemade yoghurt, freshly baked croissants…Breakfast is served in the dining room with large bay windows that offer stunning views of the Basque coast. In summer it can also be served on the terrace.
There is no restaurant for lunch or dinner but room service offers a small selection of high quality dishes that can be served in the bedroom or the dining room. The renowned Elkano seafood restaurant in in Getaria comes highly recommended.
Out and About
San Sebastian
There are several beaches (Getaria, Zarautz, Zumaia…) 5 minutes drive from the hotel.
San Sebastian, is 25 minutes by car. You can try the famous pintxos (tapas) in many bars. In the centre of San Sebastian, find out why this city was the favourite summer location of the royal family.
Surfing: Try surfing in the famous Zarautz waves, or go to Mundaka or the French coast near Biarritz.
Golf: Basozabal, Zarautz courses are very close from the hotel. You could also try some courses just across the border in France, just 1 hour drive away.
Walking, cycling, horse-riding. Guipuzcoa has amazing countryside.

Hi...we are just back from our holiday in France and Spain, in the course of which we stayed in 3 hotels in France ( variable), two Paradors ( OK but a bit old-fashioned, even boring) and at the Hotel Iturregi , just outside Getaria..........this little hotel was superb!
The staff were absolutely first class, and the building and ambience excellent.
The only downside is the lack of a restaurant. Although one can get a "room service" snack served on the terrace, this is pretty simple. The one restaurant very close by (a mile, I'd guess) is not great.
Maybe they could offer a minibus service into the town and back at mealtimes?? |
Hotel Iturregi is a new boutique hotel near the port of Getaria. It looked very stylish from the website and with only 8 bedrooms, looked the right size for us.
We were very pleased and impressed when we arrived. We stayed in the Zarauz room and also had a look at a few other rooms. All were spacious with beautifully designs in a very modern style.
The views all around but particularly towards the sea were also very impressive.
The breakfast was lovely with a wide choice of hot and cold food. There is no restaurant as such but a room service menu was available which was fine when required.
The hotel pool was a good place to relax as were the public areas.
There are a number of nice villages within 30 minutes drive all of which have nice restaurants and San Sebastian is about 45 minutes away.
The staff were very helpful and friendly giving good advise on what to do and where to eat.
All in all a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. |
| We had a lovely stay at the above hotel in northern spain, and it was very child friendly, however we do feel the hotel would benefit from having a chef who could cater for guests at the hotel rather than the rather poor snack menu they currently offer. The hotel is in such a wonderful location it seemed a shame to have to travel to find a restaurant, especially with children. Aside from that we enjoyed a lovely stay. |

Every once in a while, a hotel really grabs my attention, and this is one of them! It's probably a combination of the effortless style of the interior, the beautiful swimming pool, and the stunning coastline and countryside all around.
