Cortijo La Haza
, El Adelantado, 119, Iznájar, Cordoba.
La Haza is a 250-year old traditional cortijo, hidden among olive groves just south of Lake Iznajar in Andalucia. The old house and grounds have been the subject of a beautiful restoration to create a little 6 bedroom hotel.
Front-of-house is the domain of co-owner Bernadette. Her warm welcome will introduce you to the patio, the garden, the terraces and swimming pool, and then inside the house to the bar, lounge and dining room.
Meanwhile Patriek is in charge in the kitchen and dining room. Every night he will deliver a unique 3 course dinner, which guests might choose to eat in the company of others, or set aside in privacy. Flexibility is the key, and Patriek will try to cater for all dietary requirements and dislikes. Even the wine-list is custom-made so if you have a favourite, tell him early and he will endeavour to have that bottle on your table.
The bedrooms are tastefully finished in a rustic style reflecting the history of Cortio La Haza. Each one is set off by some special details of art, decoration or furnishing, while the practical details are closely attended to too. The en-suite bathrooms have ample walk-in showers, and toiletries, pool towels and a hairdryer are all provided.
All around Cortijo La Haza, the rolling hills are covered with olive groves, while the distant horizon rears up into the mountains of the Sierra Nevada. The nearby Lake Iznajar is the largest in Andalucia, with boating, kayaking and beaches all on hand. The spectacular scenery of the area can be enjoyed equally on foot, by bike, on horseback or in a car.
Meals
Chef Patriek really goes the extra mile for his diners. He has turned his passion into his profession, and it shows. Top quality Spanish products such as Ibérico pork, beef from Galicia, fresh fish from the sea, or trout from the Riofrío are lovingly prepared with his own unique Belgian twist.
The table d'hotes menu will vary daily according to the best choices which Patriek finds on his shopping trips. Even the children's menu will tickle their tastebuds and carefully avoid the bland choices usually offered for children. Cortijo La Haza also provides an exciting choice of wines, both national and local.
To allow proper planning in the kitchen, tables should be booked at breakfast for that evening. If you have special dietary needs, 72 hours notice may be necessary. Normally meals are served table d'hotes style, but private tables or a private space are also possible.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
What a wonderful stay. Absolutely stunning villa in a stunning location. Amazing food and wine. Great showers, lovely little infinity pool. Lots of places to tuck yourself away and soak up the views. This was by far our favourite part of our Spanish holiday; we really wish we had stayed longer. Hopefully we will be back… |
Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:
A delightful place, with really lovely views across the olive trees to the mountains. Excellent food and hospitality. What we loved the most were all the little places with sofas where we could sit and gaze out on the mountains. |
It has been a marvellous experience with enchanting people, exquisite service, five star food and perfect surroundings. When you come from a city, it is wonderful to just enjoy the silence of nature. The owners, Bernadette and Patriek, are charming and always concerned to look after their guests and help with advice of where to eat, where to visit, etc. |
Set among the hills above Iznajar, it's not the easiest place to find but it's worth the trouble. Perfect location, perfect hosts and every comfort you could need. I loved the terrace. The views are impressive and the food is really excellent, especially the tomato soup! |
