On arrival at the Hotel Spa La Romana one is faced by the austere pink stone walls that are typical of an Alicante "masía" (farmhouse). Then step over the threshold and you are met by a fresh, contemporary interior straight out of a lifestyle magazine. Look back, and you see glorious views across open countryside. All this is packed into one small hotel.
Relaxation comes easily at La Romana, where guests can choose from the spa inside or the lovely garden and patio and the country views outside. Or if that's not enough, settle down on one of the comfy sofas in the indoor chill-out area.
The spa is a special to addition to the hotel, housed in an exceptionally designed building. The inspiration is Moroccan, but the style is right up-to-date. Facilities include a hydrotherapy pool with jacuzzi, bubble bed, colour therapy, steam baths and three treatment rooms where guests can enjoy, massages, facials and exfoliation.
Each room in Hotel La Romana is unique, but each follows the same sharp contemporary style. The simple straight lines of the interiors contrast with the flowers, plants, trees and hills which can be seen outside each window. Guest have a choice of Standard or Superior double rooms or a Suite, each one equipped with air conditioning, heating, a safe, satellite television, telephone, internet connection and a minibar.
The old winery of the farm has been converted to a function room that is ideal for weddings. The conversion was carried out by the renowned architect Isaac Peral to provide a light, bright room perfect for a couple to tie the knot in a sunny location that is not too far from home.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
The hotel was very good indeed. Good sized, clean bedrooms as were all the "public" areas. Food very good in terms of both quantity and quality. Staff very wecoming and helpful. Car essential approx 35 mins to nearest city and 50 minutes to the coast. I strongly recommend this hotel for a restful and relaxing break. |
My daughters and I had a wonderful stay at La Romana - what a gem. We enjoyed our very peaceful stay. The hotel was very relaxing, rooms comfortable, the staff very attentive and the meals were excellent!! We liked the breakfast timings - 9.00 - 11.00am. There was a wait for the food to be cooked, but it was beautiful and fresh and worth the wait. We went for a relaxing few days, and certainly were rewarded. The hotel is in a very quiet location - just the job. We all partook of the spa and massage and enjoyed that. The only complaint was that we could have done with a few more days!!!!
We shall certainly keep your site in mind for any other future breaks. |
Lovely location, very friendly. Only drawback we were not aware the restaurant did not open on a Sunday night. |
Hotel La Romana is an excellent hotel, fantastic value for the money. If you are looking to get away from it all and relax, then I can highly recommend a visit. I was there to "chill out" and I could not have found anywhere better suited for my needs. The nearby village (15 mins walk) is a sleepy little place, no great distractions in La Romana!
The hotel is kept in immaculate condition, very clean at all times & the gardens are also kept in good condition. The spa was a permanent attraction, and I had a lovely massage as well.
I can highly recommend the hotel restaurant. I munched my way through the menu over the course of a lazy week! Duck breast, with figs & port sauce was a particular favourite whilst they produced a magnificent fillet steak with foie-gras with some aplomb. And it was more than interesting to nibble through "Chuletitas de conejo a nuestra manera" as a starter - rabbit chops!
The staff are lovely people - attentive & ready to help you at all times.
So, if you are looking for that retreat to forget the cares of the world - go to Hotel La Romana. I returned refreshed, relaxed and recuperated from a busy period in my life.
Absolutely wonderful. |

We Say
Far enough from the coast to be peaceful, yet close enough to get your fix of sea and sand. La Romana is deep in the countryside, yet the spa and the interiors bring just a subtle touch of contemporary style.
