Here is a 16th century Asturian mansion complete with its own tower, chapel and surrounding wall. It sits in grounds of 18,000 sq m, in a commanding position looking out at the Picos de Europa, the Sierra del Sueve and the valley of the River Piloña.

Unlike most country houses of this age, the Palacio de Cutre still stands in splendid isolation more than 2 km from its nearest neighbour. The resulting tranquility is as impressive as it is overwhelming.

All of the decoration, rich and ornate but with a touch of country style, has been carefully preserved, so that in one corner you may find an 18th century cot once used for the daughter of the family of the house, while in another you will come across a grand Louis XV cabinet containing a collection of Victorian porcelain dolls. There are several lounges, one converted from the original kitchen and still complete with a solid stone sink. Outside, the terrace and gardens have magnificent views of the Picos de Europa.

Each of the guestrooms is distinctively different and very well-equipped. The Superior rooms and Suites have an internet connection, minibar and a large TV with CD and DVD. The Suites also have hydro-massage baths.

For active visitors, the mountains of Asturias are one vast playground with room for everyone. There are some absolutely stunning hiking routes, well marked and documented.

We Say

The Asturian mountains are one of the last remaining wildernesses in Europe, where even bears still live in the wild. (Don't worry, there are no bears roaming in the grounds of the hotel, so far as we know.) You can enjoy the splendid remoteness by day and return to the unashamed luxury of the Palacio de Cutre each night.

A Word from the Owner

Our motto is "Hotel Palacio de Cutre, a place to remember." We hope you will remember our 16th century house as a place that combines history with maximum comfort. In our treasured little valley, the only disturbance is the whisper of the birdsong, and we hope that will be inscribed on your memory for a very long time to come.
