Hotel Picasso rests in its own ample gardens, alongside the mouth of the Guadalhorce river, in a verdant area of private villas and passing migratory birds. This is a peaceful location despite being only a 5 minute walk from the sea, and a short drive from Málaga airport and the centres of Malaga and Torremolinos.
The extensive lawns are ideal for relaxing and sunbathing, surrounded by plants and trees and with ready access to the swimming pool, jacuzzi and terrace. Of course there is a bar and a restaurant and the lounge is a contrast to the bright Mediterranean exterior, being most reminiscent of an English Edwardian drawing room.
This bungalow-style hotel contains 10 double bedrooms, 1 single, a junior suite and a suite, each with direct access to the gardens. The guestrooms are extremely fully equipped, including telephone, television, safe, minibar and internet access. Some of the rooms are designated as no-smoking.
The lawned gardens and proximity to the beach make this an ideal hotel for families with children. The beach has lots of facilities including a promenade and chiriguito bars, but also space to relax with nothing around. For those seeking the bright lights, it is only a few minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor where there are restaurants, bars and discos, and just a few minutes more to the centre of Torremolinos. For a more cultural visit, Malaga is famous for the Picasso Museum and the Moorish Alcazaba castle. And being the Costa del Sol, the nearest golf course, the Royal Malaga Golf Club, is no more than two minutes away.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We have just returned from a week at Hotel Picasso, Malaga. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff helpful. The grounds were immaculate. My only quibble is that our room did smell a little damp - and there was a great deal of air freshener being wafted around during the day I spent in the hotel due to inclement weather! Breakfasts were plentiful with good choices of hot cooked food and cold meats and a wide variety of breads and (packaged) cakes. It would have been nice if the tablecloths were not paper, but I do understand their choice to do this. Three restaurants within walking distance, one Italian (shut Mondays) and two on the beach gave us enough of a choice each evening. A 1.5 mile walk will take you to the Plaza Mayor where there is a multi-screen cinema which shows a film in English once a week. There are also a wide variety of eateries there and a lot of shops. Despite its proximity to the airport, aircraft noise was not an issue. Taxi from the airport is not cheap - for a 7 minute ride expect to pay near 20 Euros. |
The Picasso Hotel is set in a very nice residential location, a little oasis of calm away from the busy city. All the facilities were excellent and the member of staff we met during our 2 night stay was very helpful.
Very close, less than 10 easy driving minutes to the airport via San Julian is a definite plus.
The external area, pool, seating etc, was well organised and very clean and tidy, but the noise from the aircraft taking off did feel intrusive at times.
It was nice to have a kettle in the room, but only cinnamon tea available! Tea or coffee would be useful, particularly as we were leaving before breakfast to go to the airport. |
The hotel was excellent: clean, pleasant and well-situated. The pool was splendid. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, very good value for money. |
I had an overnight stay at Hotel Picasso Malaga in early September arranged through littlehotels. I chose the hotel as I wanted a quiet relaxing base somewhere near to Malaga airport before journeying on to the Alpujarra region and I was not disappointed.
The location was a residential area a short taxi ride from the airport. The hotel itself was lovely - 12 bedrooms situated around beautiful gardens, a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the rooms, lounges and outside lounge area were full of beautiful traditional Spanish furniture. Hotel staff were most helpful - accommodating my early arrival and late departure and helping me track down a lost mobile phone!!. I chose to eat out at a nearby pizzeria in the evening and has a simple but adequate breakfast in the morning. There was little time to explore the beach area .. but I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone. I hope I will be back. |
We enjoyed the night we stayed in Hotel Picasso in Malaga, great value for money and calm, beautiful surroundings. |
We have just returned from this wonderful but small hotel. The rooms and indeed the other areas are spotlessly clean and all the staff are extremely helpful. It is situated in a residential area not far from the beach and is blissfully quiet. Breakfast is buffet style and although the same menu each day the food is plentiful and fresh. There is no bar but reception can supply beer, ice and milk. Tea making facilities are available in the rooms + free internet access. Best of all are the beds - very large and very comfortable. A place to be highly recommended. |
Lovely hotel. Staff friendly rooms good and nice garden and swimming pool.
If you walk to the beach(5 minutes) there are two Chiringuitos(beach bars) but these were closed in October. You can see Malaga and Torremolinos from the beach but it is too far to walk.
I think this is probably a hotel used by people arriving/leaving the airport which is 5 minutes away. Note - airport taxis very expensive - 16 euros for a five minute trip from airport to hotel.
Lovely area - couple of restaurants you can walk to but not much else to do. You will need a taxi or bus to get in to Malaga. If you want to lie in the sun by a pool and read your book for a couple of days before flying home or just after arriving - this is a good hotel.

Thank you so much for your service which was friendly and helpful. We would certainly book through you again.
The Picasso was excellent - the staff were friendly without being intrusive, and the services were all very good. We loved the pool area in particular. It was very handy for the airport but yet incredibly peaceful and quiet. We would certainly stay there again and recommend both the hotel and yourselves to others. |
We stayed at the hotel from 12th to 22nd June. The Hotel was spotless, the service charming, the swimming pool great and the location allowed us to enjoy the beach and promenade which was about 300 metres away. The Hotel was peaceful and Malaga airport which is nearby did not disturb us at all. Complete Spanish area. Perfect. |

We Say
Hotel Picasso offers you a relaxing sunshine and beach holiday on the Costa Del Sol without the high-rise. The environment is quiet and relaxing, yet the bright lights are close by for those who want them. Malaga is so much more than just the regional capital and the airport of the Costa Del Sol, its a lovely city with interesting places, beautiful beaches and a multitude of excellent tapas bars.
A Word from the Owner
For your stay on the Costa Del Sol, you don't have to choose between charm, the beach, tranquillity or the city. Just choose the Hotel Picasso.
