El Privilegio de Tena is set at an altitude of 1244m on a hillside dominating the Tena Valley, right in the centre of the Aragonese Pyrenees. The mountains behind rise to over 3000m. This is an ideal location to take part in wintersports, water sports, adventure and outdoor activities as well as tourist visits and exploring the Pyrenean culture.
Parts of the hotel date back to 1470. The current buildings have been designed to blend in to their surroundings using materials typical of the Pyrenean architecture (stone, timber and slate). El Privilegio first opened in August 2002, with just five rooms but has gradually been extended to 20. The extension works are conceived to mix old and new, interior and exterior. Every room is different although they share the same soft lighting and the subtle shades in their décor.
In the old Abbey building, bare stone walls or loft ceilings add a rustic touch to some of the rooms which blend easily with the modern décor. All rooms have views to the Pyrenees and the nearby lake. The furniture combines rustic style with a modern design as well as a feeling of warmth and simplicity making the best of the interior and exterior lights.
There are 13 double rooms, 3 junior suites (one a family room with two bathrooms), 3 suites (2 with wheelchair access) and the massive El Privilegio suite which occupies the top floor and has its own private access.
The hotel has a luxurious lounge, bar, restaurant and ski-room. There is also a spa, with aromatherapy, massage, mud therapy, dynamic swimming pool and other health and therapeutic treatments.
