Hotel Sa Galera is a wonderful hotel in the Mallorca countryside close to the beaches and calas in the south-east corner of the island. Like any historic place, the estate has a varied and turbulent past, starting out as one of the seven fiefdoms of the Kingdom of Majorca, and once housing the island's cavalry garrison. Being in the same family ownership since 1850, it has been a highly productive arable estate, and still today it has over 5000 almond trees and houses one of the most important centres for the breeding of Pure Majorcan horses.
The recent restoration of the massive red stone buildings and their conversion to a hotel have been carried out with great care and an emphasis on quality. Retaining as much as possible of the original framework of the house, twenty guest rooms have been created in a Mallorcan country style, each with a character of its very own.
Outdoors there is plenty of space around the terrace and swimming pool, and a terrace close to the house is great for outdoor dining throughout the summer. For a more positive approach to relaxation, there is a jacuzzi, sauna and massage room, or for guests who want to keep to their exercise regime, the hotel's own gym will provide the answer.
The estate is very well located in a privileged environment providing a unique and relaxing tranquillity, away from crowded tourist areas. Nevertheless the location allows easy reach to many interesting spots such as the nearest village Ca's Concos, the towns of Santanyí and Felanitx, as well as the modern marinas of Cala D'Or and Porto Petro. And being located in the south-east coast of the island there are many wonderful beaches close by, especially the beautiful beaches of Cala Mondragó and S'Amarador, which are a specially designated Protected Areas.
Double Standard
Standard double rooms have a size of approx. 16 m2. They are tastefully decorated and offer all amenities you might need for a relaxing and restful stay.

Double Superior
Superior double rooms have a size of approx. 25 m2. They are also nicely decorated and will make your stay comfortable.

Double Deluxe
Deluxe rooms have a size between 30 and 35 m2 and all are decorated in contemporary style.

Junior Suite
Junior Suites are all different and have a size between 35 and 45 m2. The rooms are elegant and bright with a nice view.

Meals
Buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner are served in the charming atmosphere of the Sa Galera restaurant, and the extensive terrace makes outdoor eating a pleasing option throughout the summer. All dishes are freshly prepared, with some great chef’s specialities naturally based on the local Mediterranean cuisine. Thursday night is barbecue night.
Out and About
Cala Mondrago
Hiking: Several hiking trails can be suggested at the hotel.
Horse-riding: There is a riding school only 15 minutes drive where they provide beginners and advanced lessons, jumping and training. They also offer excursions; either one or two hours, half a day to a monastery or a whole day to the beach.
Golf: Vall D´Or golf course is only 8 km from the hotel. Guests at Sa Galera have a 10% discount on green fees.
Boat trips from Porto Petro to Cala Mondrago and Cala Figuera (approx 4 hours) and to Cala D´Or and Porto Colom (approx 4 hours)

Really enjoyed our stay at this quiet and characterful hotel.
Staff were very pleasant. Great location for visiting Portopetro and Cala Mondrago - in our opinion the most pleasant coastal locations in the area. Countryside was very picturesque with spring flowers in bloom.
Food in the hotel restaurant was very good, varied and reasonably priced.
All round a good holiday. We will most likely use your services again. |
