Ses Sucreres is a chic and simple little hotel on a narrow pedestrian street in the traditional Menorcan village of Ferreries. There are no frills, just an honest little townhouse that has been sympathetically renovated with a close eye to conservation and energy efficiency.
The garden-terrace provides a nice sitting area, sunny if that is what you want, or with a shade-sail if the sun gets a bit too much. The breakfast room opens onto the terrace so it's an ideal place for starting the day.
Each of the guest bedrooms is cooled by the thick stone walls and ceiling fans. The decor is clean and simple. There is a charming air of simple living that pervades the hotel. Guest can get a drink at any time of day using the honesty bar or the coffee-making machine.
Ses Sucreres is open most of the year so it's easy to dodge the busy season when everyone wants to enjoy the beaches of Menorca. Even just a few weeks either side of the peak season, the island takes on a more relaxed air, and there is so much to see and do throughout the year. Choose walking, cycling, horse-riding, sailing, visits to the pre-historic mouments or sample the varied nature of this enchanting island: flowers in the spring, mushrooms in the autumn, bird migrations at both ends of the year.

| Ideal for enjoying the essence of Menorca. I loved the natural soaps, the patio, the views from the terrace, the breakfasts made from local produce. The decoration deserves a special mention too. |
