Agroturismo Son Vives
, Camí De Sant Patrici, s/n, Ferreries.
Sitting on one of the highest points on Menorca, Agroturismo Son Vives has sea views and enjoys both spectacular sunrises and sunsets. It’s still a working farm (the “agro” in agroturismo) specialising in cheese production from grass to the finished product and the breeding of Minorcan horses.
There is a swimming pool with hammocks, a patio with pergola, terraces positioned on both sides of the hotel so guests can choose between sun or shade. Then there is the self-service bar/cafeteria and indoor and outdoor dining room with extraordinary views.
Son Vives has its own kitchen garden, so zero-miles products feature highly at breakfast. Naturally there is the farm’s own cheeses, plus locally made sausages, eggs cooked the way you like them, traditional Menorcan ensaimadas, plus cereals, yoghurts, fruit, breads, pastries and more besides.
The guest bedrooms are decorated with white walls, pale woods and artisan ceilings. Most of them feature a private terrace with outdoor furniture and the wonderful views come as standard. There are big double beds, flatscreen TV, wi-fi, a safe, a minibar and all the usual bathroom necessities. Pool towels are available on request. A couple of the bigger rooms have a sofabed which can accommodate a third adult.
The north side of Minorca has very little tourist development so is extremely peaceful, hence the decision to maintain that tranquillity by limiting the agroturismo to adults only. Walking, riding, or driving around the area is a pleasure and a short trip to the north coast just gets better and better. Boat charter, bike hire, fishing horse-riding and 4x4 excursions can all be arranged.
