Hotel Son Pons is a bastion of charming rusticity blended with comfortable luxury, which brings to life a farm and farmhouse that have been in the same family for generations. The house dates from the 16th century, and such is its historic importance, it is listed in the "Gran Enciclopedia de Mallorca".
In the conversion of their house to a hotel the Siquier family has been scrupulous in their respect for the history which is in their hands. The restoration has carefully conserved the rustic stone walls, heavy beams and traditional cane ceilings. When adding new, they have resisted the temptation to fake something old but have overlaid a more contemporary style using traditional natural materials. The result is a joy.
The multiplicity of outbuildings means that the swimming pool (chlorine-free) and terrace are surrounded by shady nooks and crannies. Everywhere there are pretty little places to sit and enjoy the surroundings, chat with friends, soak up the sun, settle in the shade, sip a “copita”.
Son Pons has a total of 9 guestrooms ranging from a standard double (far from “standard”) to a huge suite of 75m2 with a jacuzzi bath and its own private entrance.
Son Pons is not just a hotel, for it sits at the centre of a 60 acre estate which has been nominated as a wildlife reserve. As a result all sorts of native plants and animals have been able to thrive alongside the production of citrus fruits and olive oil. Guests can enjoy all that the finca has to offer, calm and solitude, walks by the stream or through the oak woods, and purchase of Son Pons’ very own extra virgin olive oil.

The dining room offers a different set three-course menu each day, six days per week. It is closed on Mondays. Breakfast is also served in the dining room. Whenever the weather is fine (this is Mallorca!) breakfast and dinner can also be served on the terrace.

Palma. A beautiful and cosmopolitan city. Don't miss the cathedral and the old quarter. There are important museums too, like Fundación Miró and the Museo de Es Baluard.
Reviews
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We really enjoyed our stay at Finca Son Pons and the searching and booking process through Little Hotels was very easy to use. Finca Son Pons was a lovely, relaxing and peaceful place to stay with comfortable bedrooms, an excellent restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and pleasant, friendly and efficient staff. It was very well positioned for driving around Mallorca – close to pretty towns, beaches and mountains – and it was very easy to get the train into Palma for the day. I would definitely recommend both Finca Son Pons and the Little Hotels website. |
A real find. Deep in the Mallorcan countryside, this tastefully restored finca offers a complete retreat. Surrounded by acres of organically grown olive and fig trees and offering a non-chlorinated pool, water from its own well and much of its food organic, we were absolutely delighted with our stay.
The welcome was genuine and personal and we sometimes felt like the only guests. We took advantage of the visiting physio-reflexologist-massage therapist, enjoying a treatment in the sunshine. The generous buffet breakfast in the cobbled courtyard preceded a day exploring the island in our little hire car. (Little cars make driving through the narrow village streets and navigating the hairpins bends of the mountains more practical than larger ones.) We particularly enjoyed the Sunday market at Pollenca and climbing the mountain to Alaro castle which rewarded us with spectacular views of Mallorca.
Our days ended on our little terrace marvelling at the pinkish hues of the sky as the sun set behind the silouetted Tramuntana mountains. The end of another beautiful day. We will be back. We only scratched the surface of what this beautiful island has to offer. |
I just have to say what a brilliant place Son Pons is, we had a really lovely holiday.
Son Pons is a beautiful traditional Mallorcan hotel. The owner and their staff have created a tranquil romantic place for their guests to stay.
Sitting in the courtyard under the stars eating dinner was just magical.
So many lovely places to relax and sunbathe, a pool to swim in and each bedroom individually finished. I felt relaxed and energized after such a lovely holiday.
Thank you Son Pons. |
