Hotel Un Patio Al Sur
, c/ Fernan Caballero, 7, Seville.
This hotel was newly opened in 2008 after a total renovation of the lovely 18th century building that was once a convent. Staying in the city centre no longer means staying in one of those soulless chain hotels, as Un Patio Al Sur is located right in the vibrant heart of the city of Seville. It's not touristy, but it is within easy distance of the main sites of tourist interest: the Cathedral, the Alcazar, the Bullring, and the pedestrianised shopping streets with their famous tapas bars.
The exterior is pure Sevillian style, but inside the traditional is mixed with a generous dose of minimalist modernity, giving an ambience which is clean and crisp but never stark. Up on the roof there is a large terrace with a range of fitness equipment, though guests who are feeling less energetic can use the lift to get there!
The bedrooms offer plenty of room and plenty of facilities. The air conditioning is quiet, the windows are double-glazed, the television provides local and foreign channels and there is free internet access directly from the room.
At reception, there is plenty of tourist information, and the hotel will help you with bookings for flamenco shows or sightseeing tours, even bicycle hire. Finally, very useful in the centre of a city, there is a 24 hour secure car park just minutes from the hotel.
Meals
Like many city hotels, Un Patio Al Sur has no restaurant so neither breakfast nor dinner is available in the hotel. There are lots of cafes and restaurants all around, so it's no great hardship.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
Very satisfied with our first experience with littlehotelsofspain. I had forgotten my paperwork but retrieved it when we arrived in Spain by going onto Google and remembering one or two details. My fault - but it did mean we had just a map showing the seven hotels and guessing right pickimg out Un Patio el Sur. We travelled by train from Costa del Sol. However we just had the hotel name and the map and also the telephone number. This was quite a challenge for the taxi driver and it was fortunate and sensible for Elena to answer my mobile call in English. The taxi driver did not know anything about adding 0034 to the number. The welcome was good, the room very pleasant. One amusing incident was that we had the room with the bath and there was no bath plug. We first improvised using the very small flower vase which neatly fitted the plug hole while I went out and soon learned TAPON and later Ferreteria. Eventually found a whole street of Ferreteria! Lesson number one: always sleep in every room you are going to let to holiday makers! There's a challenge! By chance we came across a similar hotel Un Patio en Santa Cruz and had a look round there and it was just as pleasant. But don't ask me to take you there - those narrow winding streets! |

We Say
When Un Patio En Santa Cruz told us about their new hotel, Un Patio Al Sur, we couldn't wait to add it to Little Hotels of Spain. Another great base for exploring this fascinating city, at a very reasonable price.
