Hotel Zubieta in Vizcaya is typical of what we love about so many a Basque building: intricately pretty design inside and out. It is then perhaps surprising to think this 18th century edifice was once just the stables of the Zubieta Palace. Now it has a homely interior, from the reception area, to the bar, to the sittinging room. Lekeitio itself is an excellent example of a little Basque coastal town where visitors can enjoy strolling around and having a pintxo (local snack) in one of the many pintxo bars. The hotel is also a five-minute stroll from the Lekeitio Port and its beach.
The 23 rooms offer a range of ways to stay here: from standard doubles to superior double rooms with a sitting area, a junior suite and triple and quadruple family rooms. The rooms are also differentiated by their variety of different decors, with various different looks to each of them.
Meals
A good breakfast starts the day on the right note, either the soft murmur of classical music indoors, or the singing of the birds if you decide to breakfast outside on the terrace. Breakfast includes fruit juice, cereals, a selection of breads and freshly-baked croissants with a variety of preserves, eggs, ham, cheese, all washed down with freshly-brewed coffee.
The bar-cafeteria is a great place to pass a while at any time of day, choosing the warm, slightly rustic decor of the interior or the lovely terrace alongside the gardens. Sip a drink or sample any of the extensive menu of light snacks that are available throughout the day.
