Beaches. The nearest is at Arrieta, five minutes away. Most of the beaches around are notably back-to-nature with maybe just a chiringuito beach bar to provide amenities. A little further away though, there are beaches with all the faciities that you might want.
Places to visit:
The Cactus Garden in Guatiza: Manrique´s celebration of the plant world’s spiniest species is a must see for garden lovers.
Jameos del Agua: Arguably Cesar Manrique´s greatest creation, the Jameos del Agua is probably best described as a beautiful garden located in and around an underground grotto.
The Green Caves: Part of the same lava tunnel which provides the backdrop for the Jameos del Agua, the Green Caves are a volcanic cave system which were once used as a hideout from marauding pirates.
Mirador del Rio: This amazing lookout point provides breathtaking views of the neighbouring island of La Graciosa and is another Manrique masterpiece.
César Manrique Foundation: The former home and studio of César Manrique is built into five underground volcanic chambers and is an impressive feat of architecture and engineering.
LagOmar: Once owned by the famous film star Omar Sharif and now home to a restaurant and house museum.
Haria/Valley of 1000 Palms: The village of Haria sits on the floor of a palm-filled valley which is by far the greenest spot on Lanzarote.
Teguise: Lanzarote´s capital until 1852 and a real treasure trove of colonial buildings and interesting architecture.
Reviews
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
If we closed our eyes and imagined our ideal private hideaway on Lanzarote, it would look like Finca Botanico! The garden has been designed to provide sun and shade, and has an amazing variety of plants (as well as a healthy population of lizards!) The house has all you need - a well-equipped kitchen area, an airy lounge and a comfortable bedroom. The property is on the edge of the sleepy village of Guatiza, so it is wonderfully quiet. And the night skies are amazing. The supermarket is a 5 minute walk away and has most of what you might need for self-catering. Gaby, the owner, looked after us very well and was on hand to answer any questions, and suggest places to visit.
If you want entertainment and noisy excitement, this is not for you! But if you want beauty, peace and quiet, and privacy in an unspoilt part of 'real' Lanzarote, then look no further. We are already looking forward to our next visit. |
Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:
Gaby is delightful and very helpful and responsive. Gautiza is wonderfully situated in the middle of the island so all points of interest (and there are many) are not far away. We much enjoyed the landscape and all the Cesar Manrique sites and would highly recommend this accommodation and the island as a wonderful getaway for sunshine with more than a touch of culture.Lovely scenery and great walks, and good road and bus links.

Totally non-touristy. Just sit in the quiet solitude of your patio garden, surrounded by fields.
A Word from the Owner
We bought the finca in 2015 and spent a year renovating it. We put great care into the garden, to ensure that our guests could appreciate something really special that you don't find elsewhere.
