The luxurious Petit Hotel Son Arnau is perfectly positioned in the heart of authentic Mallorca. Set on the edge of the village of Selva, it lies at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains amidst extensive almond groves that fragrance the air. It is conveniently located for the sandy beaches of the north-east and the more rugged coastline of the north-west of the island. Even Palma and the east-coast calas are but a short drive away.
The historic building dates back to 1738, yet thanks to its recent reincarnation the facilities are bang up-to-date. It is a perfect balance of modern and rustic, contemporary and traditional. The combination of honey-coloured stone walls and crisp white paintwork is intoxicating.
Key to the outdoor spaces is the gorgeous infinity pool which is purified with salt, not chlorine. There is plenty of room to relax as well as swim, and another terrace serves as a great place to sit and admire the view. The interiors are more modern with just occasional flashes of the history that is infused in the centuries-old walls.
There are just six bedrooms, including a junior suite and a suite. The double rooms offer a choice a double bed or twin beds and they are all welcoming and spacious. Naturally there is air-condtioning, heating satellite television and free wifi. The en-suite bathrooms all have stylish suites and are provided with bathrobes, slippers and a hairdryer.
This area close to the Tramuntana mountains is especially popular with walkers and cyclists. However the northern half of the island can appeal to all tastes, whether you want pine-scented hills and mountains, rocky cliffs and bays, or long sandy beaches with a blue sky stretching to the horizon.

An example of a dinner menu would be:
Seared scallops with a bed of cauliflower puree and basil oil
Homemade Mallorquin brushetta with sweet balsamic reduction on freshly baked bread
~
Roast duck breast in a cherry & port sauce finished off with honey glazed seasonal root vegetables
Rack of herb-crusted lamb with mixed beans and slow-roast tomatoes

The service is really friendly and Selva is a lovely little place. |
From the moment we walked through the door we felt relaxed. We only stayed for 3 days but emerged refreshed and stress free. We are already planning our next visit and can't wait to be looked after by Alex and Susan again! |

We Say
Superbly stylish and elegant. In a perfect part of Mallorca: close to everything, yet far enough away too.
A Word from the Owner
In 2012 we decided that our City jobs in London weren't for us. We were newly engaged and decided that we wanted more from life, a life where we would enjoy our jobs; no scratch that, a job that we would love.
