Hotel Son Palou is a hotel surrounded by its own productive orchards, set on top of a hill with great views of the Orient Valley. It was totally renovated in 2001 as a hotel that provides modern comforts and technology while preserving all the character and architecture typical of the traditional farms in this mountainous corner of Mallorca.
Naturally all the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, telephone and internet, satellite TV, minibar, safe and a full en-suite bathroom. More especially, each is individually designed and has splendid views down the Orient Valley, taking in the hotel’s own apple and cherry orchards. The Superior rooms have large terraces and the Junior Suites also have a sitting area and a Jacuzzi bath.
The narrow road up to the village of Orient is one of the most lovely in Mallorca. This is the taster for the pleasure that awaits: the extensive “finca” around the hotel is an ideal starting point for walks or bike rides. Others of a more stay-at-home disposition can enjoy the views of the same countryside from the comfort of the gardens and terraces that surround the hotel, or even while floating gently in the swimming pool.
The care and attention that has been lavished on the interior spaces is just a natural extension of beauty all around. While one lounge is warm and traditional, another is charmingly rustic with the massive stone rolls of the old olive press still standing in one corner. And speaking of beauty: there is even an en-suite wellness centre for massage, relaxation and beauty treatments.
For all the away-from-it-all tranquillity of this tiny village in the Tramuntana mountains, still it is only a 20 minute drive to the beaches or 25 minutes to fashionable, chic Palma de Mallorca.

Out and About
Palma-Soller train
Beach. The nearest is at Puerto de Soller. There are many others (mostly small coves, some sandy, some rocky) along the same bit of coastline.
Walking and hiking routes. The hotel has lots of information for walks in the Orient Valley and the Tramuntana mountains.
Cycling.
Golf: There are lots of golf courses all over the island.
Massage and beauty treatments: a comprehensive range of treatments is available at the hotel, especially treatments for stress and back pain.
All the historic and cultural sites are only a short distance away:
Valldemossa. Most famous for the Carthusian monastery and the visits of Chopin and George Sand. Walk the steep narrow streets and visit the 13th century church and the birthplace of Santa Catalina Thomás.
Deya: Picturesque village on the coast.
Banyalbufar: Another picturesque village on the coast.
Soller: Pretty little seaside town with a good beach and renowned fish cuisine. There is also a narrow-gauge railway to Palma.
Palma de Mallorca: The capital city, full of culture and beauty.

Reviews
Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We stayed a Finca Son Palou from 6th to 10th August. Wonderful
situation and all the staff most helpful and attentive. The food was delicious.
Few attentions to details:
No tissues in the rooms or bathroom.
Long mirror - all ladies need one!!
Clearing up bins by pool during day.
The usual problem with Spanish drains - smells!!!
Apart from that we adored it and would go back and recommend it. |
Here's What Some People Have Written On Other Review Sites or in the Guestbook:
I can honestly say that this is one of the nicest places I have EVER stayed in. It was gorgeous. The whole place was pristine. The food was fabulous. The views were unbelievable and we had a fantastic room with a romantic four poster bed with it's very own private terrace. |
I cant wait to return again next year... |
The location high in the Tramuntana mountains is stunning and perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday away from the crowds. The hotel accommodation is traditional and simple but stylish. The grounds / gardens are extensive, well maintained and the mountains provide a perfect backdrop for the pool. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone seeking peace and tranquility. |

We Say
Son Palou is a delightful little hotel, set in the beautiful "hidden valley" of Orient. Really a place for the ultimate "chill-out" and relaxation.
A Word from the Owner
These days, silence and nature are the greatest luxuries of all. If that is the luxury you want, you won't be disappointed by Son Palou.
