Las Helgueras is a “Casa Rural” (a small country hotel) in a small village close to both the sea and the mountains. It makes a delightful base for travelling around the area seeing the wide range of sights that Asturias and Cantabria have to offer.
Las Helgueras melts into its surroundings, a house built in traditional style with oodles of wood and stone, simply but tastefully decorated. The lovely breakfast room has great views to get you in the mood as you start your day. Then at the other end of the day, choose from settling down in the cosy sitting room, with a book chosen from the little library, or relaxing in the garden on one of the sunbeds or hammocks.
There are seven double rooms and one triple, each one decorated in a traditional country style with lots of wooden beams, exposed stone walls and furnished with antique pieces. They are equipped with en-suite bathroom, television, heating, internet connection, and so on so that a stay in Las Helgueras is comfortable as well as appealing to the senses.
The rugged northern coastline of this part of Spain has so much to offer; beaches, cliffs, coves and little fishing villages. Then just a short way inland, the mountains of Asturias and Cantabria are a walkers paradise, culminating in the magnificent Picos de Europa.
This fabulous area has so much to offer the visitor. It's like Cornwall without the crowds, Wales without the rain (well, a lot less!), the Alps without the prices; and lots more besides. Las Helgueras is a part of that attraction too; warm, inviting, friendly and truly an integral part of the landscape.
A Word from the Owner

We are close to forests and mountains, there are walking trails all around us, and of course we are only five minutes by car from La Franca beach. You are important to us."
The dining room is a light, bright room with large windows. This is where the owners serve an excellent homemade buffet breakfast, and will offer ideas for walks, activities or visits all around the area.
The hotel has a number of favourite suggestions for sampling the local dinner cuisine.

Reviews from Little Hotels Travellers:
We had a great trip, all hotels worked out fine and the Triumph Spitfire made it, in fact it caused quite a stir. Highlight hotels were Las Helgueras in Noriega (Carmen is a wonderful host) and Casa Del Marques in Santillana.
Happy to recommend your services to anyone.
Lovely position, helpful staff, plenty to do in the area.
Loved the hotel, location, everything. Nice long hikes right outside the door. Couple of decent restaurants nearby. Quiet, rural. Wonderful care from Carmen and Miguel. the only drawback is you need to be prepared to do some driving to get to some of the local sights.
Last month we stayed at Las Helgueras, Noriega and were very impressed with the hotel. We were given a very warm welcome by Miguel, the owner. Everything was excellent especially the lovely buffet breakfast. We only have one query - the information states "Dinner 20 euros per person per day" but the Hotel does not do evening meals. However food at the local Bar Restaurant was very good and reasonably priced but no sign of a 20 euros menu?
Since our return we have recommended the hotel to friends who wil be in the area next Spring, we would not hesitate to book through Little Hotels again.
Little Hotels reply:
My fault I'm afraid: the reference to dinner at 20 euros was a mistake that I have now corrected. My apologies, and thank you for pointing it out.
An exceptional small hotel. The rooms were as described on the web site in a lovely cared for house in a rural setting. We were given a very warm welcome and recommended the hotel to fellow travellers.
Unfortunately out of season it is a long way to travel for an evening meal so it would be nice to be able to be provided with a light supper or use a table and take your own supper.
we have just returned from las helgueras in noriega and found it to be a delight to stay in. carmen and miguel made us so welcome, carmen was so sweet and helpful, even offering to accompany us to the restaurant nearby to translate the menu - we declined but i secretly wished she was with us as we had no dictionary! the hotel was immaculately kept and the rooms were beautiful with lovely bathrooms with big shower cubicles and lovely toiletries. we wouldn't hesitate to recommend las helgueras as a peaceful and delightful place to stay, also it's location, only 1 hour max from santander and close to the picos and the coast.a fantastic place to stay!
